Construction Materials Intelligence

A monthly material-risk system using Stats SA CMPI/CPAP/CIPI data to detect unusual movement, volatility and divergence across road, concrete, steel and other civil-engineering inputs.

CASE STUDY

The analytical result is shown before the technical method.

What I did in this project

01

Defined the question.

02

Prepared the data.

03

Built the analysis.

04

Validated and documented the result.

Prioritise which input risks need procurement, contingency or commercial attention without exposing project monetary values.

Construction inputs do not move together. A project team needs to know which material groups are creating unusual escalation pressure now, how abnormal that movement is relative to history, and which exposure deserves attention first.

04 · CALCULATION

Worked calculations — not black-box KPIs

05 · MORE ANALYSIS

What the drill-down adds

The headline chart gives the decision signal. These additional views show whether the same conclusion survives when the data is sliced another way.

Numerical visuals are added after the source data pass validation.

The question and method are documented, but unfinished results are not presented as completed analysis.

Analysis completeMonitor construction-specific input signals monthly and rank material attention by movement × exposure × abnormality rather than by the biggest percentage change alone.Turn the finding into a decision.

An index is a market signal, not a supplier quotation. Exposure scenarios are illustrative percentages, not confidential project data.
